every single hour.

Alternate title: the post where I do some sappy rambling and add random pictures of my kidlets for good measure.

A few days ago a few friends and I were discussing motherhood, specifically some pretty heavy health concerns of one's child, and one made the comment about Jesus being able to understand our hurt because he lived and experienced it. However.....  he was never a mom. :-)

Fast forward to today. I heard a short segment about Jesus being related to a mother. The bible talks many places about Him being followed by a throng of people. Any mom out there can probably relate to always being followed by what seems like a throng of people..  usually knee high. And usually everywhere. We were cracking up at this but I had to go back to my conversation a few days prior.

 I thought of how much those throngs of people needed and looked to Jesus for everything,  kind of like our kids need and look to us as moms. And even though it can be exhausting, no words can ever accurately describe how much as a mom we love those little pesky kiddos that follow us everywhere, and would take any pain from them in. a. heartbeat. if we could. And then how Jesus, although so weary perhaps, loved and cared for them so much.

 So much, that he ultimately died for them.

He understands.

And to bring it full circle, like the spirit is good at doing, the song that has been on my heart and in my head lately was referenced this afternoon and again brought out in church tonight. Then of course we sang it as we finished up...

"I need thee every hour, most gracious Lord.
No tender voice like thine can peace afford.
I need thee, oh I need thee, every hour I need thee;
Oh bless me now my Savior I come to thee!"

What a merciful and loving God we serve. :)
